Army Identifies 18% of Polling Centres as Risk-Prone in Dhaka-14, 16 and 18

The Bangladesh Army has identified around 18 percent of polling centres in Dhaka-14, Dhaka-16 and Dhaka-18 constituencies as risk-prone ahead of the national election.

Among the three constituencies, Dhaka-14 and Dhaka-16 have been marked as highly risky, army officials said.

Mirpur Army Camp Commander Lt Col SM Fuad Masrur shared the information on Saturday afternoon during a briefing at the Mirpur Indoor Stadium. The briefing focused on security arrangements and election preparedness in the three constituencies.

Lt Col Fuad Masrur said the Army is on the highest alert to ensure that voters can safely travel to polling centres and return home without disruption.

He said polling centres have been divided into three categories—high risk, medium risk and general—based on security assessments. Necessary security measures have been taken according to the level of risk at each centre.

The camp commander urged journalists to verify information carefully before publishing any news related to disorder or sabotage during the election period, warning that misleading or provocative reports could create unnecessary tension.

He also said the Army will ensure the security of election candidates and media personnel during the polls.

Lt Col Fuad Masrur requested journalists and the public to inform law enforcement agencies immediately if they notice any risky or suspicious situation.
