The government has formed a cabinet committee to formulate a crisis management plan aimed at maintaining the country’s economic stability amid the ongoing global conflict situation.
A notification issued by the Cabinet Division on Monday said the finance minister will serve as the chair of the committee.
The move comes as global economies face mounting pressure due to the ongoing US-Israeli war against Iran and the prolonged Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Members of the committee include the ministers of local government, rural development and cooperatives, home affairs, power, energy and mineral resources, commerce, expatriates’ welfare and overseas employment, and food.
According to the notification, the committee will analyse war situations in different parts of the world and assess their possible impact on Bangladesh.
Based on the assessment, the committee will prepare a crisis management plan to ensure the country’s economic stability.
The committee will also have the authority to co-opt additional members if necessary, and meetings will be held whenever required.
The Finance Division will provide secretarial support to the committee.
