Health, agriculture cards to roll out by June under pilot project

Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain said the distribution of health cards and agriculture cards will begin under a pilot project by the end of June under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

The minister made the remarks while addressing a humanitarian assistance distribution programme for distressed and poor people from the Prime Minister’s Relief and Welfare Fund, held at Belabo Upazila Parishad hall room ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

He said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has also waived farm loans, including interest, up to Tk 10,000 for farmers.

The minister added that the distribution of honorariums for imams, muazzins and priests at the union level has already started.

Speaking about social issues, he said initiatives are being taken to build a society free from drugs and corruption. As part of this effort, the Belabo–Monohardi constituency will be made drug- and corruption-free, with similar measures to be implemented across the country in phases.

Belabo upazila BNP convener Ahsan Habib Biplob and officials from various government agencies were present at the programme, which was presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Umme Hafsa Nadia.
