New Government Formed, Interim Council Dissolved

The interim government led by Prof Muhammad Yunus has officially ended following the formation of the new government under BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman.

A gazette notification from the Cabinet Division confirmed that, under Clause (3) of Article 56 of the Constitution, the President appointed Tarique Rahman as Prime Minister, recognizing him as the Member of Parliament commanding the majority’s confidence.

The notification also stated that the Council of Advisers of the interim government is now formally dissolved with the establishment of the new cabinet.
