President Md Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today offered Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at the National Eidgah Maidan in the capital.
The main Eid congregation was held at 8:34am at the National Eidgah, located adjacent to the High Court.
Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, Mufti Muhammad Abdul Malek, led the prayers.
Chief Justice, cabinet members, Supreme Court judges, senior political leaders, and high-ranking civil and military officials also joined the congregation.
Authorities had made arrangements for around 35,000 worshippers to offer prayers at a time at the National Eidgah, with separate facilities for women.
Despite cloudy weather and light drizzle, a large number of devotees gathered at the venue from early morning. The entire ground was filled before the congregation began, reflecting the spirit and enthusiasm of Eid among the people.
