Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to Celebrate First Eid in Bangladesh After 17 Years

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will offer Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at the Jatiya Eidgah ground at 8:30 am tomorrow.

After the prayers, the Prime Minister will exchange Eid greetings with people from all walks of life at the State Guest House Jamuna at 10:00 am. His Press Secretary, Saleh Shibly, confirmed the information to BSS.

He will first greet foreign diplomats. Later, he will exchange greetings with cabinet members, members of parliament, distinguished citizens, academicians, ulema and mashaikh, artists and writers, as well as senior government and private officials, and people from different sections of society.

After the programme, the Prime Minister, along with his family members, will visit Sher-e-Bangla Nagar to offer ziarat at the graves of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.

This will be Tarique Rahman’s first Eid celebration in Bangladesh after more than one and a half decades. For the past 17 years, he celebrated Eid in London.

He returned to Bangladesh with his family on December 25 last year and took office as Prime Minister after being elected in the 13th national election on February 12 this year.
