BGB Recovers 282 Rounds of Ammunition in Cox’s Bazar Border Drive

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has recovered a total of 282 rounds of ammunition and a locally made machete during a special operation in the Palongkhali border area of Ukhiya upazila in Cox’s Bazar, according to a press release.

Acting on confidential information, a special patrol team from Palongkhali BOP under Ukhiya Battalion (64 BGB) conducted the drive in the Baharpara area at around 11:10 pm on April 25.

Sensing the presence of BGB personnel, the suspects fled the scene, leaving behind the ammunition and weapon.

Following a thorough search, BGB personnel recovered 153 rounds of rifle ammunition and 129 rounds of machine gun (MG) ammunition—totalling 282 rounds—along with one locally made machete.

Despite immediate efforts, no arrests were made during the operation.

Commanding Officer of Ukhiya Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Md. Zahirul Islam, confirmed the incident and said intelligence surveillance has been intensified to identify and apprehend those involved.

He added that BGB remains on high alert to prevent illegal arms trafficking, drug smuggling, and other cross-border crimes, and will continue such operations in the future.
