Code of Conduct Violations Reported in 257 Constituencies Ahead of JS Polls

Violations of the electoral code of conduct have been reported in 257 out of 300 constituencies across the country ahead of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election.

According to Election Commission (EC) sources, executive magistrates have so far filed 176 cases and fined Tk 18,26,250 for breaches of the electoral code of conduct.

Director (Operations) of the National Identity Registration Wing and Member Secretary of the Central Coordination Committee for the referendum and the 13th Jatiya Sangsad Election, Md Saiful Islam, disclosed the information to BSS today.

He said a total of 275 incidents of code of conduct violations were recorded between January 8 and February 1.

Of these incidents, 176 cases were filed and fines amounting to Tk 18,26,250 were realised as part of the Election Commission’s ongoing efforts to ensure a free, fair and orderly election process.
