Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has informed the Jatiya Sangsad that fuel oil rationing for police and other emergency services has already been withdrawn.
Responding to a point of order raised by treasury bench lawmaker Manirul Haque Chowdhury from Cumilla-6, the Prime Minister said the restriction on fuel supply for emergency forces—including police, ambulances, and fire services—has been lifted.
He added that the decision was taken and implemented two days earlier, expressing hope that the issue would no longer affect operations.
The matter was raised by the MP, who said that police patrols, particularly at night, had been reduced due to fuel rationing, leading to increased criminal activity and concerns over public safety. He also referred to the recent killing of a young customs officer in Cumilla, noting that police cited fuel shortages as a reason for limited patrol operations.
Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad presided over the session.
