Prime Minister Tarique Rahman called on members of the armed forces to safeguard the country’s sovereignty and uphold the dignity of the Constitution, rising above party affiliations and personal opinions.
He made the remarks while addressing a Darbar of military officials at the Dhaka Cantonment Auditorium, according to his Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman.
Praising the armed forces for their role in protecting national security, the Prime Minister urged them to maintain public trust and serve the nation with integrity, dedication, and sacrifice.
“The armed forces are not the property of any individual, family or party. They are a symbol of the strength and dignity of an independent state,” he said.
He stressed that protecting the country’s independence and sovereignty is the sacred duty of every member of the armed forces and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building a modern and professional military.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of discipline, loyalty to the Constitution, and continuous improvement of professional skills, noting that modern security challenges now extend beyond land borders to include cyber threats, technology-based warfare, and strategic competition.
Highlighting the role of the military in international peacekeeping missions, he said personnel must uphold the dignity of Bangladesh abroad, as they represent the country on the global stage.
He further urged members of the armed forces to avoid corruption, misuse of power, and negligence in duty, and to ensure fair use of national resources.
Expressing confidence in the armed forces, the Prime Minister said they will continue to play a key role in strengthening Bangladesh’s security, stability, and global standing.
