Tarique Rahman has announced that construction of the long-awaited Bogura–Sirajganj railway line will begin soon, describing it as a major demand of the people of Bogura. He made the statement while addressing a public rally organized by the BNP Bogura District unit at Altafunnesa Ground.
Dr. Zubaida Rahman, spouse of the Prime Minister, was also present on the stage.
Highlighting Bogura’s agricultural importance, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to ensure local agricultural products are available both domestically and internationally. To support this goal, he pledged to upgrade Bogura Airport for cargo flights to facilitate exports, noting that preliminary work has already started.
He further announced plans to introduce an agricultural engineering department at Bogura University and assured that the newly declared Bogura City Corporation would be developed into a planned and aesthetically designed urban area.
Referring to government initiatives, Tarique Rahman stated that the administration has begun implementing election promises, including the introduction of Family Cards, Farmer Cards, and honorariums for imams, muezzins, and other religious leaders. He said these measures would directly benefit working people.
On employment, he mentioned ongoing communication with various countries to create low-cost overseas job opportunities for young people, expressing optimism about positive outcomes.
The Prime Minister also confirmed the revival of the canal excavation programme originally introduced by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. The government plans to excavate 20,000 kilometers of canals within five years to ensure water availability during dry seasons and protect crops.
He concluded by reaffirming the government’s commitment to transparency and democratic values, stating that while differences of opinion may exist, the primary goal remains the development of the country and its people.
