Bangladesh, Libya Vow to Boost Cooperation, Expand Job Opportunities

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam appreciated Libya for hosting Bangladeshi workers and welcomed its recent move to recruit medical personnel, reaffirming Dhaka’s commitment to stronger bilateral ties.

She made the remarks when Libyan Ambassador Abdulmutalib S M Suliman paid a courtesy call on her at the foreign ministry, according to an official press release.

The meeting highlighted the longstanding friendship and growing relations between Bangladesh and Libya.

The state minister thanked Libyan authorities for ensuring the safety of Bangladeshi expatriates and for helping repatriate stranded nationals.

Both sides discussed expanding cooperation in trade and investment, especially in energy, infrastructure, pharmaceuticals and manpower sectors.

She also proposed forming a Bangladesh-Libya Joint Business Forum to strengthen economic engagement.

Ambassador Suliman reaffirmed Libya’s interest in recruiting skilled and semi-skilled workers from Bangladesh and enhancing cooperation in the energy sector. He assured continued support for Bangladesh and its expatriates.

The state minister stressed the importance of increasing people-to-people connections through cultural and sports exchanges, along with regular high-level visits to deepen ties.

The ambassador also reiterated Libya’s commitment to maintaining strong and friendly relations with Bangladesh.
