New MPs Take Oath at Parliament

The newly elected Members of Parliament (MPs) from the 13th National Parliament Election took oath on Tuesday morning.

Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin administered the oath at around 10:45am at the Oath Room of the Sangsad Bhaban.

BNP Chairperson and prime minister-designate Tarique Rahman took oath in the first phase along with other members of his party. After the ceremony, each MP signed the official register, writing the name of their respective constituency.

Earlier, shortly after 9am, the elected MPs were seen entering the parliament complex. Tarique Rahman attended the programme accompanied by his wife and daughter.

Security was tightened in and around the parliament complex centering the event.

A meeting of the BNP parliamentary party was scheduled for 11:30am at the parliament building following the oath-taking ceremony.
