PM to launch Farmer Card programme on Pahela Baishakh

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will formally inaugurate the Farmer Card distribution programme on the occasion of Pahela Baishakh.

The decision was taken at a meeting on the Farmer Card initiative held today, according to Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman.

He said the meeting was held in the morning at the Parliament Secretariat with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in the chair.

Agriculture Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid, State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku, State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam, Prime Minister’s Finance and Planning Adviser Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, and Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Adviser Rehan Asif Asad, among other senior officials, attended the meeting.

The Farmer Card programme is aimed at providing various forms of assistance and services to farmers across the country.

The initiative was included in the election manifesto of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) as part of its commitment to supporting the agricultural sector and improving the livelihoods of farmers.
