Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will exchange Eid greetings with people from all walks of life, including foreign diplomats and educationists, on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The greeting exchange programme will be held at the state guest house Jamuna at 10:00am on Eid day, according to Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman.
He said the prime minister will begin the day by offering Eid prayers at the National Eidgah before proceeding to Jamuna to exchange greetings with diplomats.
Later, Tarique Rahman will greet cabinet members, members of parliament, distinguished citizens, academicians, ulema and mashaikh, as well as artists, writers, senior government and private officials, and people from all sections of society.
After the programme, the prime minister, along with his family members, will visit Sher-e-Bangla Nagar to offer ziarat at the graves of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
This will be Tarique Rahman’s first Eid celebration in Bangladesh in over one and a half decades, as he had spent the last 17 years celebrating Eid in London.
He returned to the country with his family on December 25 last year and assumed office as prime minister after being elected in the 13th national election held on February 12.
