Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood has said there is no fuel shortage in the country and supply remains uninterrupted despite temporary pressure during the Eid holidays.
Speaking at a press conference at his residence on Monday afternoon, he said, “There is no shortage of oil in the country. Supply is continuing. However, some pressure was created as supply operations remained closed for the last two days due to Eid.”
The minister urged people not to panic, noting that fuel imports have increased compared to last year.
“About 25% more fuel is being imported than last year. Everyone will get oil. So I urge people not to panic and to purchase fuel according to their actual needs,” he said.
Meanwhile, State Minister for Road Transport and Railways Habibur Rashid Habib said security measures would be strengthened at filling stations if necessary.
He said the government has also been able to prevent attempts to increase prices centering on concerns over fuel supply.
“We have been able to overcome the fears that existed before Eid. Security was provided at filling stations before Eid and will be provided again if needed,” he added.
