The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved five development projects with a total estimated cost of Tk 483.43 crore.
Of the total, Tk 390.84 crore will come from government funds, while Tk 92.59 crore will be financed through loans or grants.
The approval came at the 9th ECNEC meeting of the 2025–26 fiscal year—the first under the current government—held at the Cabinet Division conference room in Dhaka. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman chaired the meeting.
Among the approved projects, the General Social Infrastructure Development Project-2 (GSIDP-2), implemented by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), saw its budget rise to Tk 1,450 crore, with completion set for June 2027.
The Char Development and Settlement Project-4 (CDSP-4) had its cost reduced to Tk 30.72 crore.
The IT Training and Incubation Center project received an increase of Tk 228.45 crore, raising its total cost to Tk 533.55 crore, with the project extended until June 2026.
Funding for the modernization of diagnostic imaging facilities at eight divisional medical college hospitals has been increased to Tk 1,213.71 crore, with the deadline extended to June 2028.
Meanwhile, the Establishment of Gopalganj Dental College and Hospital (2nd Revision) project saw its cost rise by Tk 26.49 crore, bringing the total to Tk 139.31 crore, with completion targeted for June 2026.
