Tarique Rahman today said the government has taken key steps to implement its election manifesto through a 180-day action plan, with several priority programmes already underway.

Speaking in the Jatiya Sangsad, the Prime Minister highlighted progress in multiple sectors, including social protection, agriculture, health, education, and infrastructure.

He said the government has launched the ‘Family Card’ programme, providing Tk 2,500 per month to female heads of 37,814 low-income families across selected districts and city corporations.

The ‘Farmer Card’ programme, introduced on April 14, aims to support farmers with subsidised inputs, irrigation facilities, and easier access to loans and machinery. The initiative is currently being implemented on a pilot basis in several areas.

As part of agricultural support, loans of up to Tk 10,000 in crop, livestock, and fisheries sectors have been waived, benefiting over 13 lakh farmers with a budget allocation of Tk 1,567.96 crore.

The Prime Minister also mentioned that allowances have been distributed to over 9,000 religious workers from mosques, temples, churches, and Buddhist institutions under a pilot programme, with plans for expansion.

In the health sector, a project to introduce e-Health Cards is in progress, with services expected to launch in five districts within the 180-day timeframe.

He added that canal excavation and re-excavation programmes are ongoing, with over 1,200 km of canals already targeted under different ministries, alongside plans to restore 20,000 km of waterways over five years.

Afforestation efforts are also underway, with 1.5 crore saplings prepared as part of a long-term goal to plant 25 crore trees.

In education, the government has started distributing free uniforms to primary school students, introducing the ‘One Teacher One Tab’ initiative, and planning free Wi-Fi in thousands of technical institutions and madrasahs.

The Prime Minister further said steps are being taken to develop playgrounds across the country, strengthen IT infrastructure including launching PayPal services, and expand support for athletes through new allowances.

He also noted that recruitment for government jobs is ongoing, with plans to hire five lakh employees in phases.
