Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has directed the authorities to urgently repair roads in Pirojpur to make them suitable for vehicles.

The directive came at a meeting held at the Cabinet Division office in the Bangladesh Secretariat.

According to the Prime Minister’s press wing, the meeting reviewed progress and challenges of development projects being implemented by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) in the district.

The Prime Minister said the government is committed to keeping road communication smooth across the country. He stressed that long-neglected and damaged roads must be repaired quickly.

He also urged authorities to take immediate steps to reduce public suffering in Pirojpur.

Officials at the meeting highlighted the current status of LGED projects and noted that some projects had faced irregularities and corruption during the previous government period, involving local representatives and officials.

The Prime Minister emphasised the need to ensure transparency and accountability in all development work.

Among those present were State Minister Mir Shahe Alam, lawmakers Ahammad Sohel Monzoor, Masud Sayedee, Ruhul Amin Dulal, and Local Government Division Secretary Shahidul Hassan.
