South Korea Eyes Investment in Bangladesh’s Electronics, Technology Sectors

South Korea has expressed strong interest in investing in Bangladesh’s electronics manufacturing and technology sectors as the two countries explored opportunities to deepen economic and development cooperation.

The interest was conveyed by South Korean Ambassador Ji-joon Kim during a courtesy call on Prime Minister’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir at the Prime Minister’s Office, according to a press release.

During the meeting, the ambassador praised Bangladesh’s rapid economic progress and investment-friendly environment.

He highlighted South Korea’s interest in investing in the country’s electronics manufacturing and technology sectors and expressed willingness to expand cooperation in renewable energy, information technology, manufacturing industries and other promising areas.

The two sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations, with particular focus on trade, investment, technology transfer, industrialisation, infrastructure development, human resource development and skills enhancement.

Humaiun Kobir welcomed the growing economic and development partnership between Bangladesh and South Korea and stressed the importance of enhancing trade and investment ties.

He also emphasized the need for greater cooperation in technology transfer and industrial development.

The adviser welcomed increased South Korean investment in Bangladesh and assured the government’s full support in facilitating such investments.

The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to maintaining close cooperation on issues of mutual interest.

They also expressed optimism about taking Bangladesh-South Korea relations to a new height through expanded economic and development partnerships.
