Chinese President Xi Jinping has congratulated Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on his inauguration as the 23rd President of Bangladesh and expressed his readiness to work with him to further strengthen bilateral relations.
In his congratulatory message, Xi described China and Bangladesh as friendly neighbours with a long-standing relationship, saying their bilateral ties have remained strong despite changes in the international environment.
He noted that over the 51 years of diplomatic relations, the two countries have respected and treated each other as equals, supported each other on core interests and major concerns, and cooperated in their respective development and modernisation efforts.
Xi said China is ready to work with President Mirza Fakhrul to carry forward the traditional friendship, strengthen strategic communication and enhance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.
He also expressed his readiness to expand exchanges and cooperation across various sectors and further advance the China-Bangladesh community with a shared future in the new era.
Xi hoped that bilateral cooperation would continue to deepen and produce tangible benefits for the peoples of both countries.
