A total of 157,798 expatriate postal ballots cast through the “Postal Vote BD” mobile app for the 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) election and the referendum have so far reached Bangladesh. At the same time, 461,604 expatriate voters have already completed their voting.
Salim Ahmad Khan, Team Leader of the ‘OCV-SDI’ project on expatriate voter registration, confirmed the information to BSS on Sunday.
He said that as of 11:00am, a total of 766,862 postal ballots sent through the app had reached different expatriate destination countries. Of these, 520,501 voters received their ballots, while 461,604 voters completed the voting process.
According to him, 415,762 ballots were submitted by expatriate voters to post offices or post boxes abroad, and 157,798 of those ballots have so far arrived in Bangladesh.
On the domestic front, the Election Commission (EC) has sent postal ballots to 580,968 registered in-country postal voters (ICPV).
EC data show that by 11:00am on Sunday, 24,091 domestic voters had received their ballots through the Postal Vote BD app. Among them, 17,053 voters have completed voting, while 9,843 voters have already submitted their ballots to post offices or post boxes.
Salim Ahmad Khan also said that a total of 15,33,684 voters—both expatriate and domestic—have registered to vote in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election and the referendum through the “Postal Vote BD” app.
