Home Affairs Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said that maintaining law and order across the country remains the foremost priority of the government, alongside efforts to control commodity prices and ensure uninterrupted supply of essential services.

Speaking to journalists after a meeting of newly appointed ministers and state ministers with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Bangladesh Secretariat, the minister said the government has adopted a 180-day special priority action plan to address pressing national concerns.

He explained that while new governments traditionally follow a 100-day initial programme, the current administration has prepared a more detailed and comprehensive 180-day roadmap.

“Initially, we are giving priority to stabilising commodity prices, keeping the supply chain normal, and further strengthening the law and order situation,” Salahuddin Ahmed said.

The minister added that the government is also placing special emphasis on preventing any disruptions in the power and energy sectors, particularly in gas and electricity supply, to support normal public life and economic activities.

Referring to meetings held earlier in the day, including the cabinet meeting and a session with secretaries, he said the prime minister has instructed government officials to work with sincerity and dedication for the welfare of the nation.

“The people have given a mandate based on our election manifesto. Their expectations and interests will receive the highest priority,” he said.

Salahuddin Ahmed stressed that all officials must perform their duties in accordance with the constitution, existing laws, and the rules of business.

On governance and transparency, the home minister made it clear that political identity or personal connections of officials would not influence administrative decisions.
