Bangladesh and Pakistan Agree to Expand Cooperation and Regional Connectivity

Bangladesh and Pakistan have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral engagement and expanding cooperation in several important sectors during talks between senior ministers in the capital.

The discussion took place when State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam met visiting Pakistan’s Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi at a city hotel, according to a foreign ministry press release.

During the meeting, the two ministers discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest and expressed satisfaction over the recent progress in bilateral engagement.

They reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening relations between the two countries.

The ministers said there is significant untapped potential for cooperation in trade and commerce, sports, culture, women entrepreneurship, education, science and technology and digital innovation.

Both sides also highlighted the importance of increasing people-to-people contact and strengthening institutional collaboration to deepen bilateral ties.

Shama Obaed Islam reiterated Bangladesh government’s commitment to revitalizing the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation as an important platform for regional cooperation, connectivity and shared prosperity.

The two sides stressed the need for stronger regional cooperation for the collective benefit of the people of South Asia.
