Two Bangladeshi nationals were killed in an Israeli drone strike on a house in southern Lebanon’s Nabatieh district on Monday.
The victims were identified as Shafiqul Islam, son of Afsar Ali from Bhaluka Chandpur in Satkhira Sadar upazila, and Nahidul Islam, son of Abdul Kader from Kadakati in Ashashuni upazila of Satkhira.
According to a press release from the Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut, the airstrike hit their residence in the Zibdin area of Nabatieh district around noon local time.
The embassy expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of the two expatriate workers and conveyed condolences to their families.
After the attack, authorities kept the bodies at Nabih Berri Hospital in Nabatieh.
The incident took place amid continuing tensions and military operations in southern Lebanon despite ongoing ceasefire efforts in the region.
