Bangladesh Navy Chief Admiral M Nazmul Hasan on Sunday instructed all concerned authorities to remain on maximum alert to maintain law and order and ensure voter safety during the upcoming national election.

He gave the instructions during an exchange of views after visiting Bhola Sadar and Charfassion upazilas in Bhola district.

According to a media release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Navy chief called for close coordination among the Bangladesh Navy, law enforcement agencies, local administration and other stakeholders so that voters can cast their ballots in a safe and festive environment without fear or intimidation.

The ISPR said the Bangladesh Navy is currently deployed “in aid to civil power” in 17 parliamentary constituencies across 24 upazilas and two city corporations.

The Navy is fully prepared to provide maximum support to the local administration and relevant authorities to ensure the smooth conduct of the election, the release added.

Besides ensuring security in its assigned areas, the Navy will also assist in holding a peaceful, free, fair and credible election.

Bhola Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, Civil Surgeon, District Election Officer, officials from law enforcement agencies, Fire Service and Civil Defence, BIWTA, and senior officials from upazila and thana administrations were present at the meeting.

The discussion highlighted the need for strong coordination and comprehensive security measures to ensure a peaceful, neutral and orderly national election.
