Bangladesh and France have underscored the importance of securing a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the European Union to enhance bilateral trade and expand economic cooperation.
The issue was discussed during a meeting between Benoît Guidée, Director for Asia and Oceania at the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam at the Foreign Ministry, according to an official press release.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the mutually beneficial partnership between the two countries.
The discussions covered a wide range of areas, including trade, investment, supply chains, energy, space, defence, development cooperation, culture, education, skills development, migration, and people-to-people exchanges.
They also explored ways to enhance political cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral forums.
In addition, the two sides exchanged views on regional and global issues, emphasizing the need for peace, stability, and stronger international cooperation.
