The Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) has allocated Tk 12.90 lakh for the routine maintenance of 129 wash blocks in 69 government primary schools across the country under the Fourth Primary Education Development Programme (PEDP-4).
The allocation was announced in an office order signed by DPE Deputy Director (Finance) H M Abul Bashar.
According to the order, the funds have been allocated in favour of the respective Upazila and Thana Education Officers under the PEDP-4 sub-component titled “Maintenance and Repairs” for the 2025-26 fiscal year.
The total allocation of Tk 12.90 lakh will be financed from both the Government of Bangladesh (GOB) fund and the RPA (GOB) source.
The order specifies that expenditures must not exceed the approved allocation and that advance withdrawal of funds will not be permitted.
It also directs the authorities concerned to carry out all expenditures in accordance with government financial rules and regulations and preserve all related vouchers and documents.
The DPE has instructed officials to enter expenditure information into its web-based computerized accounting system within seven days of spending. Failure to do so may affect future allocations.
According to the order, 40 percent of the expenditure will be met from the GOB source and the remaining 60 percent from the RPA (GOB) source through a single bill.
Officials said the allocation is aimed at ensuring proper maintenance of sanitation facilities in government primary schools and improving hygiene conditions for students.
