Govt Honours 102 Eminent Teachers on World Teachers’ Day

The government honoured 102 eminent teachers on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day 2026 in recognition of their contributions to the teaching profession and nation-building.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman handed over a certificate, crest and a cheque of Tk 200,000 to each teacher at a function organised by the Ministry of Education at Osmani Memorial Auditorium.

The teachers were selected from different levels of education for their outstanding contributions to teaching and nation-building.

Of the 102 teachers, 10 were from the primary level, 20 from the secondary level, 25 from colleges, 20 from general universities, 10 from medical colleges and universities, three from agricultural universities, three from engineering universities and four from other specialised universities.

Besides, seven teachers selected by the Prime Minister were also honoured.

World Teachers’ Day is observed globally to recognise teachers’ contributions to nation-building and highlight the importance of ensuring their dignity, rights and professional development.
