Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu has said the government maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards murder and is committed to ensuring exemplary punishment for those responsible for the gruesome killing of four members of a family in Rangpur.
After visiting the home of slain retired teacher Ganapati Chakraborty and meeting the victims’ relatives, the minister said police would complete a detailed investigation and submit the charge sheet quickly.
He said the killings were particularly horrific and that the government was treating the case with utmost importance. According to the minister, law enforcement agencies have already made progress in the investigation, while the two main suspects were arrested and later gave confessional statements before a court.
Dulu said the government is working to end the culture of impunity by ensuring speedy trials in sensational murder cases, adding that justice for the victims and their families remains a priority.
He expressed hope that the full circumstances behind the quadruple murder would be uncovered soon and all those responsible would be brought to justice.
Retired teacher Ganapati Chakraborty Jewel, his wife Pritilata Chakraborty Bhola, daughter Agami Chakraborty Prarthi and son Ayush Chakraborty Priyam were found murdered at their home in Rangpur’s Machhuapara area.
