Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has sought greater British support to make bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom more multifaceted, with particular emphasis on economic cooperation and human resource development.
He made the remarks when British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke paid a courtesy call on him at his office at the Bangladesh Secretariat.
Prime Minister’s Assistant Press Secretary KM Nazmul Haque said they exchanged views on various issues of mutual interest, including the overall bilateral relations between the two countries.
They discussed expanding cooperation in trade and investment, education, skills development, migration and human resource development.
The two sides underlined the importance of further strengthening the historic and friendly relations between Bangladesh and the UK and exploring new areas of cooperation for mutual benefit.
They also exchanged views on continued UK support for Bangladesh’s economic development and progress.
They expressed hope that the existing friendly relations between the two countries would be further strengthened through expanded cooperation in various areas.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir and concerned officials were present.
