PM’s Defence Adviser Given Charge of Armed Forces Division

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s Defence Adviser, retired brigadier general AKM Shamsul Islam, has been given the additional responsibility of overseeing the Armed Forces Division alongside the Ministry of Defence.

The government announced the decision today through a notification issued by the Cabinet Division.

According to the notification, his role has been re-designated with the status of a state minister, as per the prime minister’s directive.

AKM Shamsul Islam previously served as the chief security officer of former prime minister Khaleda Zia and also worked closely with Tarique Rahman during his tenure as acting chairman of BNP.
