Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said the police are not the muscle force of any particular political party or group and must establish themselves as a politically neutral, humane, professional and service-oriented force to earn public trust.
He made the remarks while addressing the concluding parade ceremony of the first phase of the 27th Bangladesh Civil Service (Police) Batch-2026 as the chief guest at the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah, Rajshahi.
The home minister stressed that the force must uphold professionalism and impartiality while carrying out its responsibilities.
He said the current government is pursuing a policy of “zero tolerance” against corruption and urged police officers to perform their duties with honesty, integrity and transparency in line with that policy.
Salahuddin Ahmed also called on the newly recruited officers to discharge their responsibilities with dedication and commitment to serving the people.
