Tarique Rahman Seeks OIC Support to Resolve Rohingya Crisis

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman sought support from member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation to help resolve the Rohingya crisis during a meeting with ambassadors and high commissioners stationed in Dhaka.

The envoys paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister at his Cabinet Division office at the Bangladesh Secretariat according to Deputy Press Secretary Jahidul Islam Rony.

During the meeting diplomats from OIC member countries congratulated Tarique Rahman on assuming office as Prime Minister and expressed strong commitment to standing beside Bangladesh.

They also discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in investment trade education healthcare textiles and the pharmaceutical sector.

The Prime Minister thanked OIC member states for their continued support on behalf of the government and people of Bangladesh.

Tarique Rahman recalled the brotherly relations maintained with OIC countries during the tenure of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and expressed hope for stronger ties in the future.

Envoys from Saudi Arabia Türkiye Palestine Algeria Brunei Egypt Indonesia Kuwait Malaysia Maldives Morocco Oman Pakistan Qatar and the United Arab Emirates attended the meeting along with heads of mission from Iran Iraq and Libya.

Prime Minister’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir Foreign Ministry Secretary M Forhadul Islam and Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman were also present.
