State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Mir Shahe Alam has said the government is working in a planned manner to meet public expectations and ensure sustainable development.
Speaking to journalists after paying homage at the graves of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, he said the government aims to establish a well-planned and sustainable power and energy system considering the country’s needs and overall development.
He said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman would present the government’s short-, medium- and long-term plans for the power and energy sector in Parliament.
On local government elections, Mir Shahe Alam said fair and participatory polls are essential to strengthen local government institutions, adding that the elections would be completed within the current fiscal year.
He also discussed the formulation of regulations for e-rickshaws and stressed that every government initiative is aimed at ensuring public welfare, good governance and accelerating national development.
The state minister called on all concerned to work responsibly and in coordination to achieve these goals.
