Health Minister Calls for Corruption-Free Society

Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain has called on people and public representatives to work with transparency, honesty and dedication to eliminate corruption at every level of society and restore people’s rights.

Speaking as the chief guest at an exchange meeting at the Manikganj Deputy Commissioner’s Office, the minister said no financial or unethical benefits should be accepted in carrying out public responsibilities.

He said the practice of pressuring or threatening officials to secure unethical benefits must end, urging everyone to perform their duties with honesty, integrity and sincerity.

On the health sector, Sakhawat Husain said the government aims to raise Bangladesh’s healthcare system to global standards within the next three years. He stressed improving the quality of treatment, ensuring quality food in hospitals and promoting humane behaviour by doctors and nurses towards patients.

The minister also urged collective efforts to prevent drug abuse and gambling and ensure a safer and sustainable environment for children and young people.

Food Minister Afroza Khanam Rita, who attended the meeting as a special guest, called for coordinated efforts to make Manikganj a model district and eliminate drugs from society. She said the government maintains a zero-tolerance policy against drug abuse and trafficking.

Manikganj Deputy Commissioner Nazmun Ara Sultana presided over the meeting, attended by lawmakers, police and other senior district officials.
