Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fulfilling the aspirations of freedom fighters, victims of enforced disappearances, killings and repression during democratic movements, as well as the martyrs and victims of the July uprising.
He made the remarks while handing over job appointment letters to members of families affected by enforced disappearances and killings and families of July uprising martyrs at a ceremony at his Tejgaon office.
A total of 74 people, including family members of victims of enforced disappearances and killings, families of July martyrs and injured persons, received appointment letters. The Prime Minister personally handed over appointment letters to 10 recipients.
Describing the occasion as deeply painful, Tarique Rahman remembered those who made sacrifices for the country but are no longer alive or remain missing.
He said the government, despite its limited resources, would make every possible effort to stand beside the families of victims of enforced disappearances and killings and those killed or injured during the July uprising.
“The irreparable losses you have suffered can never be compensated. Yet, we were with you, are with you and will remain with you in the future,” he said.
The Prime Minister described the sacrifices of democratic fighters as a major source of strength and inspiration for the government and sought continued support from the families of martyrs to help fulfil their aspirations for the country.
He said the government would continue its efforts to realise the goals and aspirations of those who sacrificed for democracy and the nation.
