The Energy and Mineral Resources Division has urged people not to panic or buy extra fuel, saying that fuel stock and supply in the country remain completely normal.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the government is importing necessary fuel from the international market to ensure uninterrupted supply based on demand. It also assured that there is no possibility of a fuel shortage.
The release warned that petrol, octane and diesel are highly flammable and storing them privately can be very dangerous.
It added that strict action is being taken against those involved in illegal hoarding of fuel for extra profit. Mobile courts, led by executive magistrates, are operating in every district to prevent such activities.
The government has not increased fuel prices so far and has urged people not to be misled by rumors.
