Dhaka: Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon called on teachers to educate students with care, responsibility and compassion, urging them to treat every child as their own.
“Students have to be nurtured with moral values. For this, the Prime Minister has emphasised family values, religious values and other ethical principles,” the minister said while addressing a views-exchange meeting at the Primary Teachers’ Training Institute (PTI) auditorium in Mirpur.
The meeting focused on the responsibilities of education officials in ensuring quality primary education across the country.
Dr Milon said the government is working sincerely to improve primary education and urged teachers, guardians and education officials to work together to enhance the quality of learning.
He stressed the importance of advanced professional training to strengthen teachers’ skills and improve classroom instruction.
The minister also emphasised the need to protect young people from excessive mobile phone use and drug addiction by promoting joyful learning, sports and other constructive activities.
He announced that preparations are underway to organise the Prime Minister’s Gold Cup Football Tournament nationwide, with the inaugural ceremony expected to be held in Chattogram on August 9, where Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is expected to launch the competition.
To encourage school enrolment and attendance, Dr Milon said the government will provide free school uniforms for students and continue implementing programmes such as mid-day meals in primary schools.
State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj, Ministry Secretary Md Sakhawat Hossain, Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education Shaheena Ferdousi, and senior officials attended the programme.
