Prime Minister Tarique Rahman directed the concerned ministries to ensure the highest standard of services for Hajj pilgrims during the upcoming Hajj.
He issued the directive while chairing a meeting of the National Committee on Hajj Management at the Cabinet Room of the Prime Minister’s Office in the Bangladesh Secretariat, according to Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman.
The Prime Minister emphasized that officials responsible for serving pilgrims must ensure the best possible support and remain alert so that no pilgrim faces hardship during the journey.
Hajj flights from Bangladesh are scheduled to begin on the night of April 18. A total of 78,500 pilgrims will travel to Saudi Arabia this year. Of them, 4,565 will go under government arrangements, while 73,935 will travel through private agencies.
Around half of the pilgrims will travel by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, while the rest will use Saudia Airlines and Flynas.
The meeting also discussed improving overall Hajj management, including uploading pilgrims’ information online, evaluating Hajj agencies, identifying those with complaints, and appointing Moallems from Bangladeshi expatriates in Saudi Arabia from the next Hajj season.
Several ministers, officials, and representatives from Hajj agencies were present at the meeting.
