All campaign activities for the 13th National Parliamentary Election and referendum will end at 7:30am on February 10, in line with election rules that require a mandatory 48-hour silence period before voting day.
The Election Commission (EC) said electioneering must stop two days before polling, which is scheduled for February 12. Campaigning began on January 22.
Voting will be held on Thursday, February 12, from 7:30am to 4:30pm across the country. Balloting will take place using transparent ballot boxes and ballot papers in 299 parliamentary constituencies.
According to the EC, ballot papers have already been sent to returning officers in 49 districts. The remaining ballot papers are expected to reach their destinations by today.
A total of 12,77,11,899 voters are registered to cast their votes in the election and referendum. Among them are 6,48,25,154 men, 6,28,85,525 women, and 1,220 voters from the hijra community.
Voter distribution varies across constituencies. Jhalakathi-1 has the lowest number of voters, with 228,431 registered voters, while Gazipur-2 has the highest, with 804,333 voters.
The Election Commission has urged all political parties and candidates to strictly follow the silence period to ensure a free, fair and peaceful election.
