Tarique Rahman left Dhaka this morning for his home district Bogura on his first visit since becoming Prime Minister after the 13th parliamentary elections.
He departed from his Gulshan residence around 6:10 am and is expected to reach Bogura Circuit House by 10:30 am. His wife, Zubaida Rahman, is accompanying him on the tour.
The visit is considered both politically important and emotionally significant, as he is scheduled to visit his ancestral home, Zia Bari, in Gabtoli upazila after nearly 19 years.
Local residents and leaders have expressed strong enthusiasm, hoping the visit will boost development in the district. They also recalled the legacy of Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia, who maintained close ties with Bogura.
During the day-long visit, the Prime Minister is set to inaugurate several initiatives. These include the launch of an e-Bail Bond system, inauguration of the Bogura District Bar Association building, and the formal declaration of Bogura municipality as a city corporation.
He will also inaugurate the 2026 measles-rubella vaccination campaign, join a Family Card distribution programme, and launch canal excavation work.
In addition, he will attend a public rally, inaugurate the new building of the Bogura Press Club, and begin reconstruction work of the Baitur Rahman Central Mosque.
The Prime Minister is expected to return to Dhaka in the evening, with a brief stop at the Rural Development Academy in Bogura before arriving back at his residence later at night.
